Growing 60cm or more per year Bamboo Showy Yellow Groove can provide beautiful dense screening at heights of up to 6 metres and are perfect for masking noise and hiding unsightly walls or buildings. Enjoy the privacy they bring with their beautiful contrasting stems grooved yellow stems and fresh green foliage, but also appreciate the rustle of its leaves and the gentle rippling of its stems in the breeze. Lovely when planted with the contrast of Black stemmed Bamboo. These fast growing, hardy and vibrant plants are incredibly adaptable. If not planted as a hedge they grow very happily in large pots and are perfect for bringing evergreen interest with an oriental feel to a patio, courtyard garden or roof terrace.
You can plant your evergreen Bamboo Showy Yellow Groove hedging plants in almost any location from full sun through to partial shade though you will get the most vibrant colour when planted in full sun. It will thrive in most soils that are moist and well drained. They tend not to fare so well in poorer, dry soil especially when young and getting established. Make sure your soil is free of weeds and grass and dug over so it is as loose and crumbly as possible as this means your plants roots can most easily get established. Showy Yellow Groove Bamboo will require consistent careful watering in the first year of planting, and once established can generally then be left to their own devices during dry spells of weather though may deliver less foliage during these times.
In most of the UK, this variety is clump-forming and tends not to send out runners, although mature clumps will expand gradually. However, in particularly warm and sunny locations with rich, moist soil, it will spread more, so we would recommend using an underground barrier or planting in a large pot to control any wayward shoots.

To give your Bamboo Showy Yellow Groove hedging plants the best very chance to thrive it is always advisable to prepare the ground as well as possible and follow the planting guidance we e-mail on confirmation of order. A hard copy of this planting guidance leaflet is also sent out with every order. We always recommend the use of the Mycorrhizal Fungi Rootgrow which enhances a plant root system and the use of the slow-release fertiliser Bonemeal to encourage faster establishment and a more drought resilient hedge with a stronger root system. We would also recommend mulching at the base of the plant at least until it is established but ideally every year during dry spells to help maintain moisture.
Trimming a Bamboo Showy Yellow Groove hedge is straightforward, they can be maintained with an annual trim between April and May when the chance of frosts has passed to encourage new growth. Remove any dead or dying stems and re-use them in the garden to stake up your other plants!

– Orders containing only bare root plants – delivery is currently within 5-7 days
– All other orders – delivery is currently within 2-3 weeks
Delivery is free for most orders above our free delivery thresholds, these are displayed above our prices in the product listings and summarized below. If you don’t need that many plants it’s not a problem, you can choose to pay our delivery charge and only order what you need.
Delivery is convenient – no signature is required so you don’t need to wait in, we will leave your parcel in the safe place that you nominate.
Delivery is fast – because we pick orders daily from our own growing beds your plants only travel the small hop to our packing shed before being sent to you, they are usually delivered within 3-7 days.
Delivery is reliable – we have been selling and delivering Hedging Plants to our customers nationwide since 1992. We have a lot of experience in packing them safely and only use tried and tested delivery partners.

Exceptions to our delivery charges are Scottish Highland and Isle of Wight delivery areas where we need to charge a little extra to cover the cost of deliveries to these outlying areas. We don’t currently delivery to other offshore addresses including Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland.
Tall plants over 2.5 metres have to be delivered by our own specialised transport, our delivery area is limited to mainland England and Wales only.
Please note there is a minimum order value of £50 for orders containing smaller plants and £250 for orders containing heavier plants
